Buses are Indians' favourite means of transport, no doubt. They rattle along country roads taking the villagers to melas or screeches through the cities over-loaded with officer-goers clinging to the sides and backs, window-bars, and the shirt-tails of other passengers !! They come in every sizes & shapes & conditions, from dilapidated double-deckers to miniacal minibuses.
Even though they look comical to the onlookers and the world, nevertheless they constitute the cheapest possible mass public transport system in the world ! Unfortunately, the bus drivers' notoriety to plough into pedestrians and drive off the bridges also makes them among the most dangerous !
